Five Hurt in DeKalb County Accident Thursday Afternoon

Five people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision in DeKalb County Thursday afternoon.

The accident took place on County Road 72 at approximately 3:30 and involved a 2004 Jeep being driven by 21 year old Corey Fowler of Section and a ‘98 Lincoln driven by 44 year old Rainsville resident Larry Whitley, Jr.  Fowler escaped injury, however Whitley was hurt along with four passengers in the Lincoln – four children, ages eleven, nine, eight and four.  The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report noted that all those involved in that wreck were wearing seat belts and proper child restraints.   No information regarding the condition of those injured was immediately available.

That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
