Five-run seventh lifts Warriors past Coosa, Ga.

ROME, Ga. – The Cherokee County Warriors scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally at Coosa, Ga., 8-4 on Friday.

Cherokee County (6-7) trailed 4-3 before its seventh-inning rally. Walker Pruett led the Warrior offense by going 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. Brian Green added a hit, a run and a RBI. Malachi Horton managed a hit and scored a run. Cody Adderhold contributed a hit. Eli Martin scored twice and drove in a run. Haden Wheeler, Isaiah Wood and Dalton Adderhold each scored a run.

Connor Wilson earned the win in relief of Green. Wilson tossed 1 1/3 innings. He gave up two hits and two walks with a strikeout. Green went 5 2/3 innings, giving up an earned run on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

The Warriors open Class 4A, Area 9 play with a doubleheader against Anniston on Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
