Flip Flop Price Change Scam Leads to Trion Woman Being Arrested

A Chattooga County woman was arrested at the Trion Walmart on Highway 27 for allegedly switching the price on a pair of flip-flops then attempting to leave the store after paying the cut-rate price.  Reports from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office indicate that 36 year old Whitney Matijw of a Highway 151 address, was detained by a store employee after she was observed removing the tags from a .98 cent pair of flip-flops and using the tag to purchase a pair of flip-flops that cost $19.76 at the self-checkout line.

Matijw was subsequently arrested for Theft by Shoplifting.
