Flood Warning For Weiss Dam Remains In Effect, Portions Of Terrapin Creek Beginning To Overflow Banks

The Flood Warning continues for the Coosa River at Weiss Dam. As of Saturday morning the Weiss Lake level was 568’ 8” – Flood Stage is 567 feet.

Minor flooding is occurring and more minor flooding is forecast. We are beginning to get reports that areas along Terrapin Creek are beginning to flood as well.

The lake will continue to fall slowly to below Flood Stage by late Sunday night.

The National Weather Service says the next round of severe storms is looking increasingly likely for Sunday.  All forms of severe weather could be on the table, including tornadoes, damaging winds and hail and rain.

Some parts of the state could get more heavy rain, which would complicate ongoing river flooding.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed a large part of Alabama under a severe weather risk for Sunday.
