Floyd Cherokee Medical Center Employees Honored During Floyd’s Annual Celebration Of Service Ceremony

Kerry Sayre and Ann Martin were recognized on Jan. 24 for their 45 years of service to Cherokee Medical Center during Floyd’s annual Celebration of Service in Rome.

Floyd Cherokee Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Terry Long described Sayre as the “perfect employee.”

“He’s a soft-spoken man who has really put his life into this hospital,” Long said of Sayre, with Floyd Cherokee’s Imaging Services department. “Kerry has probably forgotten more than most people will ever know in his years of working here at this hospital,” Long said.

Brandon Reece, Administrator of Floyd Cherokee Medical Center, described Martin, financial counselor at the hospital, as a staple and said she was one of the first people he met there. “Ann has been a wealth of knowledge about Cherokee County and the hospital itself,” Reece said.

Patient Access Manager Karen Stinson said Martin is a familiar face for much of the community. “Most patients, when they walk in the front door, she is the first person they see, and she always greets everybody with a smile. She is Cherokee.”

Also, during the ceremony, Floyd Emergency Medical Services earned the Department of the Year trophy. The department quickly established ambulance service in Cherokee County in 2018.

Abby Hastings was awarded the Executive Team Award for her efforts as Floyd began its management of Floyd Cherokee Medical Center in 2018.

According to David Early, Floyd’s Vice President of Support Services and Operations, Hastings “overcame every obstacle, moving the project forward in a professional manner that encouraged, edified, and inspired us all.” A transition process that can take up to seven months was accomplished in roughly 45 days, Early said, and Hastings was instrumental in that process.
