Floyd County Police Chase Ends When Suspects Crashes Truck

A man is in custody, following a high-speed chase taking place Tuesday evening in southern Floyd County. 

According to police 34-year old Brandon Porter fled during what started as a routine traffic stop for a seat belt violation – and ended with him crashing his pickup – between there was a chase with speeds reaching almost 100 mph around the Highway 101 Spur and Rockmart Highway area of Silver Creek.  Porter eventually crashed the pickup, bailed out, then fled on foot before finally being apprehended with the aid of K-9 units off Georgia 101 in the vicinity of Donahoo Road.

Porter, of a Silver Creek address, stands charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, driving on a suspended or revoked license, failure to yield while turning left, a stop sign violation, failure to maintain single lane, speeding, passing in no passing zone, reckless driving, acquiring a license plate for the purpose of concealing the identity of a vehicle, and a seatbelt violation.
