Floyd County Police Officer Credited With Saving Man’s Life

A Floyd County Police Officer has been credited with saving the life of a local grandfather after he collapsed on the scene of an assault.

Police say of officer Chad Matthews responded to a domestic call on Sprout Springs Rd. Wednesday, where the victim’s granddaughter, Raven Gresham, had allegedly assaulted both he and his wife when they refused to give her money.

The man told Officer Matthews, “I think I’m going to pass out,” before collapsing to the floor.

Knowing he was in cardiac distress, Matthews used his AED device and CPR to revive the victim, who at one-point did not have a heartbeat.

Matthews received a letter of commendation from the Floyd County Police Department for his quick-thinking. Gresham was arrested and charged with simple assault and battery.
