Floyd County Residents Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine

Rome - Meth and Pipe BombTwo Floyd County residents have been charged with multiple felonies after Rome Police say that they found over an ounce of methamphetamine – and a phony pipe bomb – in the couple’s home.

According to arrest reports – 19 year old Chelsi Rena Smith and 31 year old Enrique Lopez-Ortiz – were both placed under arrest after being pulled over on Charlton Road; a search of the vehicle by a K-9 unit failed to turn up anything inside the car however a small baggie of meth discovered in a nearby bush led to the arrest being made.

Afterwards, a search of their home on the Martha Barry Highway turned up – a quantity of meth, packaging materials, several stolen firearms and what appeared to be a pipe bomb; the Northwest Georgia Bomb Squad responded to the scene and soon discovered that the bomb was inert.

Both Smith and Lopez-Ortiz face a number of charges including trafficking methamphetamine.
