Floyd County School Bus Hit Head-On by DUI Driver

The Georgia State Patrol and Floyd County Police Officers responded to a wreck involving a Floyd County School Bus on Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred on Calhoun Road when a vehicle struck the bus head-on after the driver lost control and over-corrected.

Several children on the bus were transported to a nearby hospital to be checked out – along with the driver of the car and the children in her vehicle.  Luckily – no serious injuries were reported.

The driver of the car, identified as 33 year old Rome resident, Mandy Coast, stands charged with two counts of Endangering a Child under the Age of 14 w/Driving Under the Influence, as well as Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI.
