Former Boaz Housing Authority Comptroller Charged with Stealing $160,000+

KnopThe former comptroller of the Boaz Housing Authority has been charged with stealing over $160,000 from the organization over a three year period ranging from August the 4th 2010 through October 25th, 2013.

According to information in a news release from U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance – 47 year old Crossville resident Stanley J. Knop – has been charged with stealing Housing and Urban Development funds, while employed as comptroller for the Boaz Housing Authority, which receives HUD funding.

Knop could face up to ten years behind bars and a $250,000 fine if convicted of the theft.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura D. Hodge is prosecuting the case – which was investigated by the FBI.
