A former Cedar Bluff Town Council member has been indicted by a Cherokee County Grand Jury on one count of Sexual Abuse of a Child, one count of Rape 1st Degree, and two counts of Sodomy 1st Degree. 62 year old George William Mobbs of Cedar Bluff, who served on the town council in the late 90’s was jailed at the Cherokee County Detention Center last Friday afternoon (August 28th) at around 4:45.
He was released on a property bond of $100,000 just after 4:00am Sunday (August 30th).
Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and Josh Summerford, Investigator with the DA’s Office, have both refused comment, citing the on-going investigation.
