An ex-Floyd County Sheriff’s Office Deputy will be spending 30 days behind bars after entering a guilty plea to a charge of misdemeanor sexual battery.
The charges are related to his employment as an off-duty security guard at Floyd Medical Center – 41 year old Donnie Lee will be required to serve 12 months on probation and perform 50 hours of community service in addition to paying a $500 fine and a $45 monthly probation fee; he can also no longer serve as a police officer.
Lee was accused of improperly touching an employee at the medical facility in September 2012; he also faced complaints from two other female employees at the hospital.
He was fired from the sheriff’s office following an internal investigation.
Judge Donald Howe, Jr. sentenced Lee as a “first-time offender” meaning his criminal record can be expunged if he successfully completes his sentence.
He was booked into jail shortly after sentencing and Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell stated that Lee will be transferred to another detention facility to serve out his time; that, in accordance with the procedural policy whenever a law enforcement officer is jailed.
