Former Middle School Teacher Indicted on Child Molestation Charge

Pepperrell Teacher Arrested 1A former Floyd County school teacher has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of Child Molestation.

28 year old Anthony Hicks of Rome, who had been a teacher at Pepperell Middle School, is charged with Child Molestation, Sexual Assault by a Teacher, Obscene Internet Contact with a Child, Possession of Material Depicting a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, and Electronically Furnishing Obscene Material to a Child.

Hicks was arrested for misconduct with a student, following an investigation which showed that he was using social media to message obscene pictures to students; school officials had received information regarding possibly inappropriate contact occurring between a school teacher and a student, at which point they contacted the Floyd County Police Department.

Warrants were issued for Hicks, following an investigation alleging that he was using social media and texts to communicate with a student under the age of 16.

Hicks was indicted last Friday (July 15th)
