A former school employee in Chattooga County has been arrested on a felony Theft charge.

Dieni Montgomery, who was fired from her position as Trion City School Nutrition Director back in November of last year (2020), was arrested last week on those charges by the Trion Police Department.

The Trion City School Superintendent Phil Williams, contacted police regarding an on-going issue with Montgomery, who is a resident of Plainville Georgia.

Williams had been in contact with Montgomery since her dismissal concerning items which she hadthat belonged to the School System.

According to reports she initially responded to e-mails and texts with excuses, Montgomery later stopped answering all correspondence from Superintendent Williams.  The matter was then turned over to Trion Police and at that point Chief David Gilleland also contacted Montgomery in an effort to retrieve the items and was met with several excuses.  Afterwards, the case was turned over to Investigator Dexter Blackmon.

The items taken included a laptop valued at $2,000, an iPad, deposit slips, Revenue Reports, Inventory reports, Fiscal Year 20/21 invoices, Free and Reduced Lunch Forms – as well as a school Walmart Card.

Montgomery was arrested and booked in at the Chattooga County Jail on Thursday, January 21st.
