Former Youth Minister Pleads Guilty in Jefferson County; Still Faces Charges in Cherokee County

Davis, MackA former youth minister still facing charges here in Cherokee County and in St. Clair County has pled guilty to six charges of sexually abusing minors in Jefferson County.

According to court records 74 year old Mack Allen Davis, former youth minister at Lakeside Baptist Church in Birmingham – entered those guilty pleas on Monday (December 1st).

That indictment charged Davis with three counts of second degree sexual abuse of a minor, between the ages of 12 and 16 – one count of first degree sodomy – and two counts of first degree sexual abuse.

The charges in all three counties relate to allegations by two men, with both victims saying they were abused by Davis on multiple occasions from the late ‘70’s through the late ‘80’s.

The alleged abuse reportedly occurred at locations inside and outside the state of Alabama, including Davis’ church office and at Camp Chula Vista in St. Clair County.

Davis was hired at Lakeside in 1977 and he was later named director of the church summer camp. He retired in 1999.
