Fort McClellan Area Residents May Experience Increased Noise Due To Live Fire This Week

FortMcClellanResidents around Fort McClellan and Pelham Range may experience periodic increased noise due to live artillery fire this Thursday through Saturday.

Firing will be suspended between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. each day.

Officials say it may still get noisy due to atmospheric conditions as wind speed and direction, cloud cover, temperature and relative humidity can all affect how sound travels, which means the sound of live fire may be amplified and heard up to 30 miles away.

Officials say the current, long-range forecast indicates favorable conditions for keeping noise to a minimum, but that could change.
