A Fort Payne man was arrested in Rome over the weekend after reports indicated that he was attempting to commit theft from a business on Shorter Industrial Boulevard in Rome.
Police say that thirty-nine-year-old Charles Ray Ledon Wilbanks was arrested in Rome after he was allegedly found attempting to commit a theft of an air conditioner when he cut several copper wires and pad locks to disable the power.
The unit was being taken from the former site of Sykes on Shorter Industrial Blvd.
Wilbanks was charged with second-degree criminal damage to property.
