Fort Payne Man Arrested On Warrants For Burglary Was Already In The Etowah County Jail

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Investigators have had an ongoing investigation on 31 year old Joseph Wayne Willis of Fort Payne for the burglary that occurred on County Road 270 in Fort Payne back in June.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has a warrant for Willis for this burglary. When Etowah County Sheriff’s Office learned of the warrant they contacted the DeKalb County Investigators to let them know that they had arrested Willis on unrelated charges and a hold was put on Willis for his extradition to the DeKalb County Detention Center at a later date.

Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson says “this is a good example of how our Deputies and Investigators work diligently with surrounding Counties to solve cases and thanks to Etowah County for being observant on the warrant and calling us about Willis.”
