A home invasion has law enforcement asking the public for help. Fort Payne Police say a home on the west side of town was broken into around 8:50 Thursday evening. The homeowner says the man did not appear to know anyone was in the home at the time of the break-in. Law enforcement says the man took a pair of diamond earrings from the home. The homeowner confronted the man and chased him out of the house.
Authorities say they believe the man is driving a small dark colored car. If you live in the Second Street to Thirteenth Street area and see anything unusual, you are encouraged to contact the Fort Payne Police Department.
