Four men were arrested for Violating the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act locally, on Thursday.
Those included Jimmy Ray Carroll, age 45 of Cedar Bluff; Robert Merriel Dildine, age 50 and James Jeffery Bailey, age 44 – both of Centre; and, 38 year old DeWayne Bachelor Wilkins, of Collinsville.
The Sex Offender Registration & Notification Act is part of a comprehensive federal law that requires every state to maintain a system for the monitoring, and tracking, of convicted sex offenders following their release into the community.
The Act makes it a federal crime to knowingly fail to register with a state’s authorities, or to fail to update registration at specified times, in accordance with the law’s requirements.
