Four people were fatally injured in traffic accidents over the Labor Day weekend this year, according to Alabama State Troopers.  One passenger, two drivers and one bicyclist died in crashes taking place in Baldwin, Barbour and St. Clair counties. Two of the people who died were not wearing seat belts.  It’s unknown if the third person who died while riding in a car was wearing a seat belt.

The fourth victim, the bicyclist, was wearing a helmet when he was struck and killed.

That Labor Day weekend travel period officially covered from 12:01am Friday, August 31st – 12:00am Monday, September 3rd.  During the same holiday travel period last year (2017) Alabama State Troopers investigated three traffic fatalities and one drowning.
