Four-run first helps lift Spring Garden baseball past Jacksonville

SPRING GARDEN – The Spring Garden Panthers batted around and scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning against visiting Jacksonville on Thursday en route to a 9-3 victory.

Weston Kirk tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts for the Panthers (7-5). He also helped himself at the plate with a triple and two RBIs.

Grayden Guthrie collected a pair of hits and two RBIs. Jackson Maddox and Ryley Kirk also contributed two hits and a RBI apiece. Chaz Pope blasted a two-run homer. Cam Welsh doubled and Kenneth Petty posted a hit and a RBI.

The Panthers travel to Weaver on Saturday.
