Four Transported for Treatment Following Near Head-On Collision Wednesday Morning / UPDATED

Four people were transported for treatment following a near head-on collision taking place at the intersection of Highways 9 and 35 Wednesday morning.

Alabama State Troopers, members of the Cedar Bluff and Gaylesville Fire Departments, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and Cherokee EMS all responded to the scene of that wreck in front of Ft Crowe Fireworks at around 11:30am.

Firefighters re-directed traffic around the accident scene, through the Ft Crowe parking lot, as emergency personnel stabilized those injured in the accident prior to each of them being transported to Rome-area hospitals for treatment.

The only information available on Thursday morning through the Alabama State Troopers post was that the vehicles involved were a 2010 Chevrolet and a 2005 Ford and it appeared two people were injured in each vehicle, with one of those hurt in the Chevrolet being from Scottsboro and one of those hurt in the Ford being a resident of Cedar Bluff.

The roadway was cleared and both lanes were re-opened at approximately 12:45pm.

The cause of that wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
