Frances McFarland Newman, age 82 of Centre, passed away Friday, March 13th at Cherokee Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be 11:AM Monday, March 16th at Centre First Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Nation officiating; burial will 3:PM at the Forrest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham. The family will receive friends Monday, from 10:AM until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers include David Galbraith, Daniel Galbraith, Derek Newman, Todd Nolan, Chris Newman, Nathan Hozey.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Douglas Newman; sons, Cliff (Mary) Newman of Tampa, FL, Steve (Nancy) Newman of Jasper; daughter, Teresa “Tracy” (Keith) Luke of Pinson; brothers, Jimmy (Jackie) Newman of Alabaster, Clint (Jean) Newman of Birmingham; sisters, Marilyn Mabee of Arab, Linda (Paul) Newman of Midway Park, NC; 7 grandchildren; 6 ½ great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Newman was a native of PA, the daughter of the late Leroy Francis and Mae Irene Wheeler McFarland, she was a 1951 graduate of Woodland High School, the church secretary for 15 years at McElwain Baptist Church. After moving to Centre in 1995, she was very active at Centre First Baptist Church and the Happiness Ministry known as the “B Team Angels”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Centre First Baptist Church-ROC.
