French Officials are Foiling Terror Plots 'Every Day,' French PM Says

Hemera/Thinkstock(PARIS) — French officials are foiling terror plots “every day,” the country’s prime minister said amid new arrests of suspected terrorists this week.

“Every day intelligence services, police, foil attacks, dismantle networks, track terrorists,” French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said to local media according to BBC. “There are about 15,000 people in France who are monitored, because these people are in the process of radicalisation.”

On Saturday, French police arrested a 15-year-old boy who was suspected of planning an “imminent” attack on Paris, according to BBC.

One of four women arrested this week for a failed plot to attack the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral has been charged by French authorities with alleged involvement in a terrorist act and attempted murder, BBC reports. The three other women were questioned after a car filled with gas cylinders was found in the heart of Paris.

France has been on high alert and under a state of emergency since the ISIS attacks on Paris last November left 130 people dead.
