Ft Payne Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Arnold, CodyAn argument taking place at a bar over the weekend led to a Ft Payne man being charged with attempted murder.

The Ft Payne Times-Journal is reporting that 24 year old Cody Ray Arnold was in the bar in which the argument took place at around 2:00am Saturday and when the group involved in the dispute was asked to leave, he went outside with them.

Arnold, who reportedly knew several people in that group, returned to the bar and became confrontational with the staff. He was then asked to leave. Once outside, Arnold is accused of getting a pistol out of his truck and then firing several rounds into the air; fortunately, no one was hurt.

At that point however, he tried to go back into the bar, with the pistol – but was stopped by outside by a staff member; the two men became involved in a scuffle – with the pistol going off several more times. Again, no one was hurt.

Arnold was finally brought under control until Scottsboro Police arrived on the scene.

He was charged with Reckless Endangerment, and with Attempted Murder stemming from the shots allegedly fired at the staff member during the physical altercation outside the bar.

Arnold was taken to the City Jail and later transferred to the Jackson County Jail and he was later released on bond of $50,500.
