Ft Payne Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting of an American Bulldog by a bolt fired from a crossbow.
A report was made to the department on February 20th that the dog had been found in that condition in the 1900 block of Godfrey Avenue NE.
It was quickly rescued, then taken by Animal Control to the DeKalb County Animal Shelter – afterwards, it was retrieved by a concerned citizen and from there it was transported to the DeKalb Animal Hospital to recuperate.
Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum says investigators are still working to find who shot the animal and they urge anyone who has any information on this case to call his department at (256) 845-1414.
