Units with the Leesburg, Centre and Sand Rock Fire Departments responded to a report of a possible structure fire at a residence on Agan Circle just after 9:30 Sunday night

Centre Fire Chief Jeremy Lee was the first to arrive on the scene and he observed the home filled with smoke.  Upon further investigation, Chief Lee found a fire inside the fuse box and using a fire extinguisher, quickly resolved the issue.  We were able to speak with Chief Lee and he expressed the importance of making sure you have a working fire extinguisher in your home and that you know how to properly use it.  Lee said had it not been for the presence of the fire extinguisher the outcome would have been much worse.

Cherokee Electric Co-Op crews and Floyd EMS Medics also responded to the scene.
