Gadsden Man Charged with Arson

An Etowah County man has been arrested in connection with a case of arson at a residence in Gadsden.

Sheriff Todd Entrekin says 32 year old Michael Lee Edwards is facing one count of second degree arson.  Investigators say he set fire to a condemned unoccupied home located at 303 North 30th Street.  The fire was apparently started inside a tea urn in the kitchen area.

The Gadsden Fire Department responded to the location multiple times in the days prior to the arrest of Edwards.

Sheriff Entrekin said that Edwards is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on bond of $5,000 on the arson charge.

He’s also facing charges of drug possession and promoting prison contraband.
