Gadsden Man Charged with Drug Possession and Distribution

A routine traffic stop turned into a major drug arrest in Etowah County last month.

According to information contained in a recent news release, 23 year old Gadsden resident, Joshua Dylan Belyeu had been pulled over on July 20th by an Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, and found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.  As a result, he was charged with Distribution of a Controlled Substance/Methamphetamine; two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance/Methamphetamine; the Possession of a Controlled Substance/Carisoprodol; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Belyeu is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on bond of $150,000.  The investigation is on-going and additional charges could be forthcoming.

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Gadsden Police Department, Alabama National Guard Counterdrug program and FBI Safe Streets Task Force participated in the case.

The arrest was made based on probable cause, all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
