Gadsden Man Charged with Trafficking in a Synthetic Substance/Spice

Etowah County Drug Agents recently intercepted two packages that were to be delivered to a residence in East Gadsden, as part of a drug shipment; those packages contained a total of approximately 100 pounds of suspected “spice” being shipped in from out of state.

Agents set up surveillance on the residence as other agents conducted a controlled delivery to the home.  The packages were left on the front porch when no one answered the door. According to Deputy Commander Phil Sims, a short time later a grey SUV arrived and a man got out of the vehicle and took the packages and placed them inside the SUV.  The driver, identified as 39 year old Derrick Traylor of Gadsden was taken into custody and charged with Trafficking in a Synthetic Substance (approximately 100 pounds of Spice). His bond was set at $100,000 cash.

Traylor has previous convictions for First Degree Robbery and the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance in Etowah County.
