Gadsden Man Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine

A Gadsden man has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, and according to the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, additional charges could be forthcoming.

Commander Randall Johnson stated that agents with the unit received information Monday that 25 year old Westphaleon Bernado Thomas was headed to Terrace Drive with what was termed a “substantial amount” of methamphetamine. 

Agents approached Thomas while he standing outside his vehicle, and when they identified themselves he attempted to flee on foot.  Following a brief chase, he was taken into custody, and agents subsequently recovered approximately 56 grams of meth on Brookwood Drive.

The investigation is on-going and additional state and federal charges could be forthcoming related to the drugs, and a firearm, seized during the operation.

Thomas currently remains in the Etowah County Detention Center.
