A Gadsden clothing and camping store took a significant hit from thieves last weekend – one that caused big problems for the store owner, Trey Staples.
Staples is the owner of Gadsden Outfitters, and he told ABC 33/40 about the impact that the heist will have on his business
He said that at least 60 jackets were taken – and possibly, as many as 80 – with the theft taking in the neighborhood of $10,000 worth of inventory out of his stock at a crucial time of year.
Staples added, that the cash register was left untouched – meaning the thieves knew exactly what they wanted to take and where to find it.
He says he doesn’t expect insurance to cover his entire loss but he hopes that some coverage will help to offset the situation – at least to some degree. Remember, anytime you see high-end, name brand, popular items for sale at drastically reduced prices – chances are the merchandise is either counterfeit or has been stolen – in either case, you should notify police.
At this point, no arrests have been made and police are following up on leads as the investigation into the matter continues.
