Gadsden Police Assist State Agencies In Illegal Gambling Investigation

The Gadsden Police Department’s Special Projects Team recently assisted Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation and the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board with ensuring that a local business was in compliance with current laws regarding alcoholic beverage sales.

While conducting a compliance check at “The White Store” located at 1000 Tuscaloosa Avenue, law enforcement officers were able to locate a back room containing 10 electronic gambling machines, a surveillance system, and 11 individuals engaged in illegal gambling activities.

All 11individuals were arrested for the misdemeanor of simple gambling. The owner, who had been cited for possessing gambling machines in the past, was also arrested for promoting gambling and possession of gambling devices.

The Gadsden Police Department and state agencies continue to investigate this case.
