Gadsden Police are still investigating an armed robbery occurring during the early morning hours of Saturday (May 25th) outside an Etowah County nightclub.

According to information in a news release from Gadsden Police Captain Bobby Jackson a report made by a 23 year old female and a 24 year old male companion, indicated that the pair had been assaulted and robbed by acquaintances outside Lucy’s Afterlife, at around 3:00am.

The two victims said they’d been in the club earlier, and had been approached by five individuals they described as “acquaintances” – one female and four males, ranging in age from 24 to 30.

The complainants stated that they’d had problems with the same group previously and added that the five attempted to start a fight that night.

Later, as they were leaving the nightclub, the two victims found the same group waiting for them outside; both complainants say they were then attacked – being struck several times and knocked to the ground.  The female victim said her cell phone was taken along with $147 in cash from her purse – the male victim was relieved of his belt buckle and ball cap.

Investigators continue to conduct interviews and follow up on leads in the case.
