Ambulance Stolen in Gadsden Found in Tennessee / UPDATED

Ambulance TheftAn ambulance stolen early Thursday afternoon from Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden has been found in Tennessee.

Don Bratcher with the Rural Metro Ambulance Service says the ambulance was taken from the emergency room entrance at the hospital at about 1:00pm while EMT’s were inside the building picking up a patient. Witnesses at the scene said someone jumped inside and then drove away. It’s believed the thief was either a patient or someone who had been recently discharged.

The vehicle – which was recovered in Knoxville – had not been wrecked or damaged in any way. It was reportedly the first run of the day for that particular ambulance, and there was no patient information or medications inside the vehicle.

The investigation into the matter is on-going.
