Gadsden State’s Cardinal Camp Students Visit Cedar Bluff Fire Station

Students with Gadsden State Community College’s Cardinal Camp had the opportunity to pay a visit to the Cedar Bluff Fire Station on Thursday and got an up close and personal demonstration of what Firefighters do on the job.

Cedar Bluff Fire Chief  Shawn Rogers along with several of the firefighters discussed with the students what to do if your house catches on fire and what to do if you get trapped inside a house that’s on fire.

Students also had the opportunity to look at all the tools firefighters use on the fire truck and were given a demonstration of how firefighters look and sound when they are in their turnout gear and inside a house fire.

The kids got to touch and feel the turnout gear to know what it feels like so they would be familiar if they found themselves being rescued from being trapped. Each of the students were awarded a Jr. Firefighter helmet and also enjoyed some water recreation time with the firemen.
