Gadsden Teenager Shot Twice During Altercation

An altercation between an 18 year old Gadsden resident and another person led to the teen being hospitalized for gunshot wounds last Friday; according to the police report the victim said that a man pulled up and accused him of damaging his stereo.

The aggressor was reportedly armed with a baseball bat and a rifle; the teenager picked up a bat from his yard in the 300 block of South Third Street – and attempted to defend himself by swinging the bat at the rifle, eventually breaking the gun in half.

After the attacker fled the scene – the young man noticed that he’d been wounded in the left shoulder and on the pinky finger of his right hand; he says up until that point he didn’t even realize he’d been shot.

The victim was treated for his injuries at Riverview Regional Medical Center.

That incident, which occurred just before 11:30 that morning, remains under investigation.
