Gadsden Woman Admits to Making False Report to Police

GargusThe Gadsden woman who called police to report a robbery earlier in the month – has been arrested in connection with the crime.

49 year old Michelle Lynn Gargus had made a report on December 14th stating that she had been robbed as she was leaving her place of employment on West Meighan Boulevard with the night deposit. She also claimed to have been injured during that incident, and reported that some $1,200 had been stolen.

She filed a second report on December 20th, claiming a man that resembled one of the men who had robbed her on the 14th had approached her at home and threatened her before he stabbed her with a sharp object.

Gargus later admitted that she had staged the robbery and lied regarding the incident – she also told police that she tossed the money out at a local soup kitchen, out of guilt – whether or not that proves to be true remains to be seen.

Gargus has been charged with Theft 2nd Degree – and two counts of Making a False Report to Law Enforcement. She was placed under arrest and later released on $3,000 bond.
