Gadsden Woman Admits to Using Drugs While Pregnant

A pregnant Gadsden woman is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center, on a $10,000 cash bond. after being charged with Chemical Endangerment of a Child.

Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin, says that 23 year old Amber Grace Machen, admitted to taking Subutex, which is a narcotic used to treat pain and drug addiction – without a legal prescription.  She also tested positive for opiates and amphetamines.

As a condition of bond Machen must successfully complete a drug treatment program along with being supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections.

She is also on probation with the state of Alabama.
