The stepmother of a 3-year-old girl was arrested and charged in connection to the child’s death, according to the Gadsden Police Department.
Police said 30-year-old Haley Metz was charged Friday with aggravated child abuse after evidence was recovered during the course of the investigation.
Police said the child’s father, 23-year-old Nikolas Dimaso, was arrested on October 4 and charged with capital murder.
The incident is still under investigation.
