Gadsden Woman Jailed On Several Charges After Attempting To Elude Leesburg Police

A 37 year old Gadsden woman is behind bars on a laundry list of charges following a pursuit that involved multiple agencies and spanned two counties.

According to Leesburg Investigator Jamie Chatman, he conducted a traffic stop on Traci Leann St. John on late Tuesday night for running a stop sign. While Chatman was speaking with St. John she took off, nearly striking Chatman with her vehicle.

Investigator Chatman gave pursuit up Highway 68 where Centre, Cedar Bluff and Collinsville Police in addition to DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office units joined. The pursuit continued into DeKalb County on County Road 176 at a high rate of speed where St. John driving into oncoming traffic.

Chatman said that after making a complete circle, St. John lost control of her vehicle on DeKalb County Road 176 at DeKalb County Road 55.

St. John was arrested on charges of Attempting to Elude, Failure to Signal, three counts of Failing to stop at a Stop Sign, Improper Lane Usage, Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road, Reckless Driving, Improper Lights, Improper Tag Lights,  Switched Tag, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance and Failing to Register a Vehicle.

She was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center at 12:20 a.m. where she remains with bond set at $7,000.
