A house fire on Donley Drive in Garden Lakes Monday morning resulted in the death of 89 year-old Sung Iee Park – and it left her 94 year-old husband in critical condition and on life support.
According to Floyd County, Georgia Coroner Gene Proctor – Park died as the result of smoke inhalation and severe burns to her body.
Reports state that Park was alive but injured when fire officials arrived on scene just before 2:00am Monday. Firefighters retrieved Park from inside the home, while her husband was able to escape outside.
He was eventually placed on life support and flown to an Atlanta hospital.
Reports added the fire seemed to have been electrical in nature, and nothing seemed to be suspicious.
