Gaylesville Man Allegedly Tells Rome Police He Was Kidnapped and Forced to Steal Vehicle

A Gaylesville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on felony charges of theft by taking a motor vehicle and making a false report of a crime.

According to police, 28-year old James Brandon Spivey of a County Road 87 address took a vehicle from a location on Turner Road in the Armuchee area and was seen driving it.  Spivey reportedly claimed he had been kidnapped and forced to take the vehicle.  He is also charged with possession of methamphetamine, loitering or prowling, and criminal trespass.

Reports state that Spivey was caught on property on Crackerneck Road without permission and had meth, which he dropped.
