Gaylesville Man Arrested by Georgia Authorities Following High Speed Chase Monday Morning

A suspect is reportedly in custody following a high speed chase from Georgia into Alabama early Monday morning.  The chase began on County Road 337, when the trooper attempted to pull the suspect over and the driver – later identified as 35 year old Robert John Criswell of a Gaylesville address – instead of pulling over chose to flee down 337 and was eventually stopped halfway between Alpine and Broomtown, Alabama on County Road 99.

According to information WEIS Radio News has received the suspect’s vehicle was possibly pitted by a Georgia law enforcement vehicle, bringing the pursuit to an end at around 6:30.  In addition to the GSP, Chattooga County authorities were on the scene.

He was placed under arrest and taken to the Chattooga County Jail on charges of Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License, No Proof of Insurance and Defective Equipment.

Additional charges could be forthcoming.
