Gaylesville Man Arrested on Controlled Substance Charges and Failure to Appear Warrants

A man was arrested Monday evening after an alert Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reserve deputy spotted him acting suspiciously at a location on County Road 83 close to Providence Church.  The deputy stopped to investigate what the subject was doing behind the home – and, upon seeing law enforcement the man fled on foot to another house – where he was surprised by the homeowner.  He then fled into a nearby field where he was captured by deputies and an officer with the Department of Conservation.

Brandon Dio Connell, age 27 from Gaylesville was placed under arrest and charged with the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and three warrants for failure to appear – one for Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and two for Theft of Property 1st Degree.

He was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center just prior to 7:00pm, where he currently remains awaiting a bond hearing.
