Gaylesville picks up softball wins over Valley Head, North Sand Mountain

The Gaylesville softball team held on for a pair of wins Monday and Tuesday against Valley Head and North Sand Mountain respectively. The Lady Trojans defeated Valley Head 13-11 and came from behind to beat North Sand Mountain 16-15.

In the win over Valley Head, Malaya Shireman picked up the win in the circle with six strikeouts. She also helped herself at the plate by going 2-for-5 with a double and five RBIs.  Anna Hartline had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4, all doubles, with three RBIs. Sierra Holbrook went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Andreah Calvert was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Chelsey Cagle was 2-for-4 with a double. Charity Green was also 2-for-4.

Against North Sand Mountain, Delaney Coker got her first varsity start and win after pitching all seven innings. She finished with four strikeouts. 

Sierra Holbrook homered twice and finished with six RBIs. One of her homers was a grand slam.  Peyton Bright went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Shonda Epps was 3-for-4. Calvert and Charity Green were both 2-3 with a pair of triples. Green drove in four runs. Emma Givens went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Shireman was also 2-for-3 and Cagle went 2-for-4

Gaylesville hosts Coosa Christian on Thursday, Collinsville at home on Friday, and travels to Woodville for a tournament on Saturday.
