Gaylesville Woman is Charged with DUI After Sunday Morning Wreck

Alabama State Troopers worked two separate single-vehicle accidents involving injuries on Sunday in Cherokee County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident reports, a wreck occurred just after 12:30pm on County Road 91 approximately four miles north of Gaylesville involving a 1997 Toyota, being driven by 61 year old Inez Hatcher of Cedar Bluff.

No additional information was available regarding the extent of her injuries.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation.

Shortly after 1:00am, there was a wreck on County Road 75, approximately five-and-a-half miles west of Cedar Bluff, involving a 2011 GMC driven by a 38 year old Gaylesville resident – Kristie Ann Evans; Evans reportedly received minor injuries in the wreck.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office website, Evans was booked into jail about 4:30am on a DUI charge.

She currently remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center with bond set at $500.

A Cedar Bluff man fortunately escaped injury, after being involved in a motorcycle wreck around 8:00am Saturday. The accident report stated that the 65 year old driver was involved in the single-vehicle wreck on County Road 48 just inside the Sand Rock city limits.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation.
