Georgia Fugitive Arrested at Cherokee County Campground on Wednesday

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have apprehended a sex offender wanted out of Georgia for a violation of sex offender registration requirements.  Sheriff Jeff Shaver informed WEIS Radio News that Chief Investigator Josh Summerford and Investigator Tony Monroy arrested Ellijay resident Arthur Ray Brookshire at a campground in the Kirk’s Grove community on Wednesday.  The 56 year old fugitive was charged with an Alabama Sex Offender Registration Violation and a count of Obstruction of Justice by Using a False Identity.

Brookshire was taken into custody and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center – he will eventually be extradited back to Georgia.
