In accordance with public health recommendations, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has now extended the statewide shelter in place order through April 30th.  The extension is just one of several executive actions taken by the governor in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Kemp also extended Georgia’s public health state of emergency through May 13th.

The action will allow for the state to deploy more resources for communities in need, lend support to frontline medical providers and prepare for an anticipated surge of patients at healthcare facilities.  Another executive order mandates more aggressive infection control measures at long-term care facilities across the state.

The governor has also activated an additional 1,000 National Guard members to assist in the COVID-19 emergency response effort.
